BEIJING - China on Saturday urged Japan to adopt a correct historical view when educating the youth and stop provocations in Diaoyu Islands issue.

北京(周六)—中国敦促日本在教育青年时采取正确的历史观点，并停止在钓鱼岛问题上的挑衅。

The Japanese government on Friday endorsed a revised high school textbook guideline, obliging students to be taught that Diaoyu Islands are Japan’s inherent territory with no territorial disputes.

日本政府于星期五批准对高中教科书指南进行修订，要求学生认识到钓鱼岛是日本的固有领土，不存在领土争端问题。

"China resolutely defends its territorial sovereignty and any attempt to infringe upon China’s sovereignty over Diaoyu Islands will be futile," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang said, adding that Diaoyu Islands and its adjacent islets have been an inherent part of Chinese territory since ancient times.

“中国坚决捍卫自己的领土主权，任何侵犯中国对钓鱼岛主权的行为都是徒劳的，”外交部发言人陆康说，钓鱼岛及其附近的岛屿自古就是中国领土的一部分。

The Chinese side has lodged stern representations with the Japanese side on this, Lu said.

陆康表示：中方已就此问题向日方提出严正交涉。

"We urge the Japanese side to face up to the history and reality, adopt a correct historical view when educating the youth, and stop stirring up trouble on the issue," he said.

“我们敦促日方正视历史和现实，在教育青年时采取正确的历史观点，不要在这个问题上惹上麻烦，”他说。
